Winter Walking

It's so hard to believe that we are in January.  The holidays came and went far more quickly than I could prepare for them it seemed. The tree is down, and the decorations will find their way into storage for another year soon.  I will miss how they fill my home with coziness, and look forward to easier housekeeping. 

The weather has been very cold, but it has not kept me from getting outside.  There has only been a few days where it was completely unreasonable to go out.  When I go, I have my phone and sometimes I snap a few photos.  


Loved how the sunlight illuminated the forest here.

The contrast between the stark white frost and the black
bark on these trees is stunning.

I love taking a walk on a morning when Mother Nature has
decided to redecorate.

    Hello and happy new year! Your photos are beautiful. We don't receive snow often here in the south. I hope your forsythia plant you purchased will be bright and full when it blooms later. You'll have to share pics of it!

    Where I live winter is always cold and damp which makes walks not such an enjoyable experience - great lakes effect I suppose. However, when we travel north to our daughter's it is dry and cold, perfect for a stroll which we like to do when visiting.
    Sunlight pouring through trees as in your first photo is magical, isn't it?

    I must say even though I'm not a fan of winter (or snow that much) your shots here are just gorgeous. I especially like #2 & #3. The BW really shows off the winter beauty around you.

    What a magical Winter Wonderland, dearest Andrea, I'm so amazed at your shots, they truly fascinate me, here, in this part of Northern Italy, near to the sea even if we're in the country it's hard to see so much snow !

Snow Day!

It has been a wonderful, drawn out fall.  I've enjoyed easy walks around my yard well into December, and more time outdoors than I usually get during these first two winter months. This balance between indoors and outdoors is essential to keeping me feeling good.  I hate being cooped up in the house for too long without a breath of fresh air.  It makes me tired, and I'm a grouch when I'm tired. Yesterday, Old Man Winter decided to correct his oversight in our corner of the world, and deposited between 6 and 8 inches of snow.  It looked light and fluffy, but it was actually very dense and it took a lot of work on my husband's part to tidy up the driveway.
