Foggy Days

Image
Foggy days can be beautiful, but of course if you're traveling they can be treacherous too. On the day I took these lovely photos, a local 17 year old girl was in a bad accident. For the longest time, the only news we had heard was that her back was broken.  We were terribly worried for her, and I said many a prayer for her and the family.  We found out recently that she is not only going to make a full recovery, but that she is already back at home.  Home of course, is where we do our best healing.  I can't tell you how happy I was to hear this news. Too often, people don't get so lucky.

Flowing Water

Image
I took this photo quite awhile ago, and forgot about it.  I really like how it turned out.  The water carved its way through the snow is such a graceful curve, and for a short time I could hear the water babbling along.  It wasn't long before the flow slowed too much to be heard, but it is still nice to have water in the creek.

In Like A Lion

We have seen every type of weather the seasons have to offer in March.  You just never know what this month will bring.  This year, it began with snow and a roaring wind that lasted 2 days and created some beautiful drifts. Some of them are very impressive.  Once the back roads are cleared, it would be worth a drive out to where there are more trees to see more of Mother Nature's decor.   It is still beyond reason how cold it is out there, so I quickly grabbed my phone out of my pocket to take a few photos around my yard. What a big change! The weather never ceases to impress me.

Crystals and Shadows

Image
I've been lazy.  I toss my phone in my pocket whenever I go out and leave my DSLR in the closet.  I was glad I decided to pick up the bigger camera and head out as the sun was starting to go down.  The snow started to catch the light in such a way that there looked to be large diamonds everywhere. Even among the shadows, light was gleaming.  A few even tricked me into taking a closer look, but each time I discovered another snow crystal.

Bye Bye February

Hello to you all out there. I hope everyone has been healthier than my household. Nothing to worry about, just colds, but they can sure take a person down.  Life seems exceptionally cruel when we are sick. Hopefully it will all be over soon, and we can enter our Spring feeling awesome!   Other than someone in the household being ill on and off since Boxing Day, yup - 2 months, things have been good here.  I've been scrapbooking up a storm, a hobby I've had for 20 years.  I have done many albums and I always look forward to the next one. One of these days, I would like to start one for just my own hobby photography, just the pretty stuff that I only enjoy here on my blog.   I'm really looking forward to Stephanie's upcoming teacup exchange in March.  I also celebrate my 41st birthday in March as well as my husband's.  The birthdays along with the possibility of an early Spring, March is a month to look forward to here....

End Of September

Image
Having had a rain yesterday, (and it is raining now) the colors of autumn are at their richest.  Before it started pouring this morning, I had a chance to get out with my camera and take Bear for a nice long walk around our yard.  I know the rain is not a welcome thing in the middle of harvest, but it is so very nice to have the dust out of the air for a little while.  A lot of leaves came down with the rain yesterday.  I love walking in this area of my yard when the maples give themselves a shake. I've brought a few pumpkins and gourds from the garden to adorn my porch, but there must be several hundred left to clean off.  I love those colors! My garden sheds have also received the pumpkin treatment.   The  marigolds are still going strong. It looks like the middle of summer in this part of the yard.  There is still a lot of transformation to look forward to. An upside down reflection of my world. ...

Meet Frank

Image
Who knows what sort of bird this little guy was modeled after, but my husband called him "Frank the Finch', so there it is.  Frank came home with me one day, because he wouldn't stop whining about how lonely he was on that shelf.  I tried to reason with him, and explained that he had a huge family surrounding him.  He continued to complain saying that their beaks must have been attached improperly, because they couldn't chatter it up like he could.  All they could do was mumble inaudible sounds. So, I let him hop into my cart, and he hasn't shut up since.  He even insists I take him on walks, which I refused to do for a long time, explaining that if my dog ever got hold of him, it would be his end. But he persisted, and so I eventually gave in, thinking to myself that if Bear did catch him, it might not be the worst thing. He perched himself on my shoulder, and out we went.  I had my camera, I always have my camera, and why wasn't I surp...

Morning Greetings With Last Night's Sunset

Image
I'm taking my morning tea with Lightroom and a few of last night's photos.  As I'm typing, I keep looking up and out a window from my basement and just noticed  a blue jay that has perched himself on a branch.  Maybe I will be lucky enough to capture him in a photograph later today.  Our jays seem to be very shy around here though, even though they know who fills their feeder every week. Oh, and now I see a very large woodpecker, another camera shy bird.  Maybe I need a more powerful lens, so I can get up close without having to get up close. On a different note, I have a nephew who is turning 19 today, and I was able to claim him for lunch this afternoon.  He is the oldest of all my sister's and my children, and there are 10 of them.  I am truly looking forward to this get together, as I rarely get to see him on his own. Almost never, in fact. But every time I do see him, he shows me a gorgeous photo of a sunrise or sunset on his phone.  The k...
