Happy Thanksgiving

With many of my posts, I find myself looking for a picture to go with my words.  Recently, I've had a difficult time coming up with words to go with my pictures.  The first two photos are from my trip last week to Cold Lake, AB.  The last 3 are from a walk around my in-law's farmyard, while I was waiting for turkey dinner.  It was a beautiful day that led up to a delicious meal, and we wrapped it up with an evening on the couch.  I hope everyone had as wonderful a Thanksgiving as I did.  To all my American friends, I hope you have wonderful plans to look forward to!
 
 
I loved how the sky started to turn a bright blue all of a sudden, and its contrast with
the orange of the still low sun.
 
 
I really like how the path of the rocks seem to be following the clouds.  Or should I reverse that?
 
 
Who doesn't enjoy a windmill?  I don't see many of them being used anymore, and this one is no exception.
 
 
I enjoy interesting textures, especially the fungus.  I think I should do an entire series of fungus shots.
 
 
Loved the gnarled root behind the wheel.  I'm in the process of finding out if I can take that root, which is huge, and
move it to my yard to create a garden around.

    Lovely selection of photos. That first one is dreamy. What I liked most about this post beside your photos was that you described why you liked the photos.

    Ahhhhhh.... I love that shot of the rocks following the line of the clouds...or the clouds following the line of the rocks. I would love to sit there and gaze out at the world for a while.

    Those pictures are just breathtaking. All of them.

    I forgot that Canada had it's Thanksgiving earlier than ours. I hope you had a lovely dinner and a nice time thinking back over your blessings.

Snow Day!

It has been a wonderful, drawn out fall.  I've enjoyed easy walks around my yard well into December, and more time outdoors than I usually get during these first two winter months. This balance between indoors and outdoors is essential to keeping me feeling good.  I hate being cooped up in the house for too long without a breath of fresh air.  It makes me tired, and I'm a grouch when I'm tired. Yesterday, Old Man Winter decided to correct his oversight in our corner of the world, and deposited between 6 and 8 inches of snow.  It looked light and fluffy, but it was actually very dense and it took a lot of work on my husband's part to tidy up the driveway. The prairie I walk in out back was so completely whited out, it seemed as though I was getting nowhere, even though I could clearly feel the muscles in my legs straining to get me through the snow.  It is actually quite dizzying to be looking at nothing but pure white and trying to move forward.  I had ...
