Rain On The Way

Harvest has been going very well here and has actually felt like it has been running at a fairly relaxed pace, but that feeling was swept away this morning by the new forecast of imminent rains. We may not get done what we would like to before the skies cloud over, but we can hardly complain when we think about what our neighbours are going through with Hurricane Irma.

Love and prayers to our Southern friends.

There are still plenty of blooms out in the fading garden.

Cosmos mix with marigolds, and the bees are still humming.

My mixed gourd patch always has a surprise for me.  This year it is in the form of a min-gourd.
They are grit-your-teeth-together cute.

  1. Hi Andrea - the garden looks lovely ... and I'm sure a good soak won't do it any harm ... and yes I'm glad I'm nowhere near the hurricanes ... though we've had squally showers here - cheers Hilary

  2. Those little gourds are my favorite! I'm hoping to see some blooms on my planted mums soon, but I may have to buy one in a pot for the front entry.

  7. You would be held in high regard with your marigolds - we have been told golden marigolds will be planted through out Bangkok, as a mark of respect for the late King of Thailand as we come up to the end of the official year of mourning and his burial. Got any spare as I think there will be a price surge on marigolds here?!
Hope the rains are not too bad for you.

  8. Wish my beds looked as lovely as yours. Mine became over grown with weeds as I just couldn't keep up with them during the summer heat wave. - Love that little gourd.

  10. We are going to get some rain here next week, but we desperately need it, as it has been so dry here. Your garden looks lovely, the bees sure do love the cosmos! They love marigolds too. My pumpkins are doing good, I've gotten a few out of the patch so far that have turned orange. Looking forward to homemade pumpkin pie!

  11. I was very happy when we got rain this past week. Your gardens are lovely and I'm enjoying the end of season flowers here also. My brother was in Florida during the hurricane. Thankfully he and his property were good! He took off for a trip to England as soon as the airports were opened! Have a good weekend!

  14. That gourd is adorable. We are still enjoying bees, hummers and butterflies despite that the flowers are slowing down. We had 40 mph wind here from Irma, but no damage to our home/yard. Our neighbor had 2 huge trees to fall right thru the middle of his roof. Thankfully, they are safe.
