Beatrice
I have to say, I was a little nervous getting out of my vehicle for this one. I grew knowing that under no circumstance should one try to approach one of these animals. My husband reassured me that beavers cannot move very quickly and so I would be fine.
There was no sign of an imminent attack, and so I took my time observing and taking snapshots. He kept his eye on me the entire time and I didn't push my luck. More interesting than the photos were the sounds of his munching. He was very loud! I found it all very adorable, but I was happy to get back to my vehicle again, without incident.
Without further delay, say hello to Beatrice, a fine specimen of Canada's national animal...
I'm sharing my photo on Eileen's critter loving blog HERE today...Thank-you Eileen!
Hi Andrea - how lovely ... gorgeous photo and glad you were able to spend some time observing - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteWonderful!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Hello Andrea,:)and hello Beatrice!:) Great capture!
ReplyDeleteSo adorable, but I am glad you kept your distance. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteWell hello, Beatrice! I don’t think I know a lot about beavers & didn’t know they could attack people!
ReplyDeleteGlad you got the photo safely!
Happy weekend!
Hello, cool shot of the beaver. I have only seen them in the water. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Happy Saturday, enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteLovely pic! I think Beatrice is great and I understand about keeping a distance but I didn't realize Beavers could be aggressive to humans. But then you never know how a wild animal will act. Have a nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great photo. Wishing you a nice evening.
ReplyDeleteWonderful shot! Sometimes we have to stretch our fear limit to get a decent pic. Last year in South Dakota there was a huffing, snorting buffalo running toward us on the other side of the road. Hubby stopped and I actual got out to take a pic. Although my brain kept me on the running board of the truck so I could hop back in if he decided to charge. :)
ReplyDeleteWho's have thought that Beatrice could send you packing? Sounds a good job you had your escape route planned though!
ReplyDeleteWren x
Oh my! What an awesome find! Glad you were able to approach enough to get a photo.
ReplyDelete...well beaver sure are busy little devils! Several years ago a creek running through my property became overrun with beaver and started to flood a large area. A trapper was called in and trapped 9 of these little devils. That was just too much cuteness!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great photo - I've never had a chance to see one up close for very long, as they always have run off, maybe one day I will see one.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea that they could be dangerous, and so I commend you for getting this wonderful image of Beatrice. I had the unexpected surprise of a Wolverine that came out of a ditch while I was walking while on holiday in Colorado once. I took several photos and the whole time I was thinking...is he dangerous, is he about to come after me, I never found out fortunately~
ReplyDeleteHow neat! I didn't realize how dangerous they were either. I'm glad you got some good pics! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo Andrea. They're just adorable. Glad you stayed safe lol.
ReplyDeleteThese guys look so docile, but you're right to be wary. I only recently learned that those big teeth can chomp through your leg and people have actually died from their arteries being severed. I only see them from my canoe, but I give them more respect now. Glad you were cautious and were able to get this lovely photo.
ReplyDeleteWendy
I've never been close enough to photograph a beaver, how neat for you. Nice shot.
ReplyDeleteI really likes your blog! You have shared the whole concept really well and very beautifully soulful read! Thanks for sharing.
