Birdwatching

I'm going to make this short and sweet; I am so glad January is over. I've never been a fan of that month and this past one sealed the deal. But it's over now, and everything is much better now!   

I recently went out for a photo shoot with the birds, and the chickadees, as usual, did not disappoint. I would tell you the names of the other birds, but I'm really not too sure.  But if you know, you can tell me in the comments.  Happy February everyone!

    The problem with your January is that you live in the wrong part of the world to see her glories! Come to Melbourne in January it is truly the best month the sun is shining everyone is in holiday mode and we have the Aus Open tennis! Mind you our August... that's like your January!     Don't know the names of the birds but your photos are great! I'm glad January is over too but February here is usually worse weather wise...hope yours is better! I'm ready for Spring!

    Hello Andrea, I love your birds and the beautiful photos. The Chickadee is adorable, I believe the second bird is a Common Redpoll. I am not sure about the first bird, I forget what area you live in, that would help sometimes with the id. Happy Monday, enjoy your new week!

    These are such beautiful photos, Andrea. I really enjoyed them. We're about to start the Backyard Birdwatch here soon. My son has been involved with Citizen Science this school year and we've really enjoyed some of the other challenges, so I think we'll do the birdwatch too. Snow Day!

It has been a wonderful, drawn out fall.  I've enjoyed easy walks around my yard well into December, and more time outdoors than I usually get during these first two winter months. This balance between indoors and outdoors is essential to keeping me feeling good.  I hate being cooped up in the house for too long without a breath of fresh air.  It makes me tired, and I'm a grouch when I'm tired. Yesterday, Old Man Winter decided to correct his oversight in our corner of the world, and deposited between 6 and 8 inches of snow.  It looked light and fluffy, but it was actually very dense and it took a lot of work on my husband's part to tidy up the driveway. The prairie I walk in out back was so completely whited out, it seemed as though I was getting nowhere, even though I could clearly feel the muscles in my legs straining to get me through the snow.  It is actually quite dizzying to be looking at nothing but pure white and trying to move forward.  I had ...
